Yesterday was the last day of school in term 1. The Aphelion consortium councillors were busy organising activities for the Aphelion cohort. It was supposed to be on 26/2/10 but teachers felt that we would have more fun if it is on 5/3/10 as all tests are over.
Sec 1s had an amazing race at Botanical Gardens, Sec 2s had bowling (which was what I had), Sec 3s had a chance to learn archery while Sec 4s played paintballs after appeal. The actual activity for Sec 4s were treetop walk but the Sec 4s found this activity boring and unsuitable as it does not promote bonding since this is the last year for them in the school. After appealing for activities that are more thrilling, the teachers had came to a decision of let them having paintball fights. This game promotes more bonding in a sense as it requires teamwork.
We had to come to school at 7.20 am as usual to attend the flag raising ceremony then we will head back to class for cleaning because this is the last week of study for the term. We will then have sabbaticals after this week. After cleaning, we have recess and we will board the bus to the bowling arena. It was a long journey to our destination and I even dozed off in the journey.
After reaching the bowling arena, we were asked to change our school shoes into shoes meant for bowling. Trainers were available to teach students on the basics of bowling and provide help when needed. There is also a booth selling snacks which attracted a lot of students. Foods sold there were comparatively more expensive than our school canteen yet many students bought food there.
Teachers gave instructions and rules about the game and we were allowed to start the ball rolling. My first few tries were terrible... 3 out of 3 are gutterballs. Later on, I played seriously and I managed to get back a few points to minimize the range between my score and my friend's score. He started off perfectly but unfortunately they cannot keep the momentum and eventually started to lose points. The score was close until the last stroke. I shot down 9 pins while he shot down 6. The final score was 78 to 75, very close indeed.
After our games, we bought light snacks for ourselves while waiting for other students to finish their game. The food sold there was yummy but the price is a bit too expensive. However, it did attracted many students to buy food there. About 30 minutes later, we were ordered to return the bowling shoes and change back to our shoes. Later on, we boarded the bus back to school. We were tired after the games and we had a quick nap in the bus.

Ageing Population in Singapore
Ageing population occurs when the median age of a country or region rises. The aging of population is often measured by increases in the percentage of elderly people of retirement ages. The definition of retirement ages may vary but a typical cutoff is 65 years, and nowadays a society is considered relatively old when more people retire after 65 years. This pattern is expected to continue over the next few decades, eventually affecting the entire world.
Basically, this post discusses the issues and implications of population aging in Singapore. As one of the fastest ageing populations in Asia, Singapore faces the challenge of developing public policies to accommodate this changing age structure. Specific areas discussed are financial security, employment, health care and the accommodation of the elderly in Singapore.
Ageing population will also result in higher dependency ratio. Researches show that in the year, 2000, one elderly person was supported by 9.8 working persons. This will decrease to 3.5 working persons per elderly person in the year 2030. Therefore the government is concerned with the need to ensure financial security of elderly persons either through retirement savings or an extension of employment years. Social implications include the need for appropriate housing and health care for current and future cohorts of elderly.
Some reasons are analysed for the ageing population in Singapore, namely later and fewer marriages and preference for small families. More people are marrying later and having children in their lives. This could be due to the fact that more women now have higher academic qualifications and thus choose to pursue their career before settling down and having children.
Most people feel taht the cost of raising children has increased. Such changing trends and values have led to some couples not preffering to have children at all due to the expensive cost of raising a child. Couples feel that having a child is a burden to them as some of them could not even maintain a good living standard for themselves.
In order to overcome this problem, Singapore’s Central Provident Fund
(CPF) was instituted to provide Singaporeans with financial security in old age. It remains as a savings platform for all employees and employers in Singapore. However, publics have questioned whether this amount of money is sufficient for support in old age. Thus, the government has stated that many elderly will have to resort to private savings and family support.
Furthermore, with the years of experience the elderly have, they play an important role in the society in decision makings. As such, more families should take it upon themselves to look after the elderly. Various community programmes and government incentives can help encourage this. For example, families that support their parents can be promoted through tax subsidies.

Multiple Intelligence Results Reflection
This multiple intelligence test is about the various sorts of intelligence and skills that one possesses. The multiple intelligence test can be broken down into 8 components, namely:
Acquiring the learning profiles is an important step in our lives as it can be crucial in our decision making in the future. This test provides us an insight on our strenghts and weaknesses for us to be more aware of the consequences on things done which will be helpful in our career.
Although the Multiple Intelligence Test can show us what are our dominating skills and some area for improvement, we should not solely focus on the area that we are strong in. In fact, we should improve other areas as they might prove to be useful one day. Others should not be neglected if we want to be an all-rounded person.
In conclusion, I feel that the Multiple Intelligence Test is an assesment to let us have a brief idea on what type of intelligence they posses and fully utilize it.

Start of my new "blogging career" for 2010
Hi all, welcome to my reactivated blog. I had also change my blog URL from 1a225.blogspot.com to the new URL at lhatebl0gs.blogspot.com . Hope you all did take note of that. It symbolises a new year, having new hopes and also new goals and achievements.
There was a long time since I have not been blogging an ad now I am starting it again. I do not like blogging actually but it is some sort of a assignment which will provide me the chance of getting ACEs. That's the main purpose of me reactivating this blog again. I was happy during the last EOY when I was finally awarded with ACEs after putting in effort on the blog. I became happier when I though that I can actually quit blogging during the last holidays. To me, having a blog and updating it frequently is a burden to me.
I was not exposed to blogging and had not even heard about this blogging website until I came to HCI and was ordered by teachers to have a blog. When I first registered into blogger, I found that the original background was ugly, the fonts and sizes do not suit me.... I was fed up one day and I decided that there must be a change for my blog. I asked my friends for help but they were busy too. In the mean time, this thing came in very useful for me.... it is GOOGLE.
I am sure all of you know about Google. Google is a popular search engine which users can find almost everything in the world. I searched for informations about changing the template, updating my particulars and many more. There was a sense of relief and satisfaction after 2 hours of modification to my blog.
However, in this year, I changed my perspectives on blogging and decided to make it a better one compared to last year. I promise to insert more applications and post more things about myself. Stay tuned for more updates..
Last but not least, kindly follow my blog at lhatebl0gs.blogspot.com . Thank you very much for your continuous support.
